Despite this website being dedicated to the wolves, Natalie Lagstrom started out with a career as a Masters & Degree qualified Animal Behavioural Scientist certified with ICB (Institute of Canine Behaviourists) and is on the committee of Pet B.C., she has a reputation as being one of the top behaviourists in the country (for all animals, not just dogs) and often has cases referred to her in a “last resort” scenario where the owners are close to giving up on the animal as other behaviourists have been unsuccessful in resolving the issues. We also run group socialisation classes and puppy training classes, as much as classes with a qualified animal behaviourist may seem a little unnecessary, it’s important to know that there are no requirements for dog trainers to have any qualifications, many dog trainers will do a very basic training course that often don’t have any affiliation with any official organisation, it gives them a nice certificate to display that makes them look all official, however due to the lack of legislation requiring any official training courses, it often means that dog trainers are actually giving incorrect advice / techniques. When it comes to puppies, incorrect training can be detrimental and can take a long time to rectify, often resulting in new puppy owners feeling like they have made the wrong choice when choosing the puppy and sadly often resulting in the dog being given up or worse. As such we highly recommend having a private puppy training session with an experienced qualified animal behaviourist as they will teach you the right / wrong techniques. You can then either continue having lessons / doing group classes with the behaviourist, or if you’d refer to go off and find cheaper puppy training classes, then you’ll at least have the knowledge yourself to understand if the instructor in the classes are giving the correct advice and whether or not to proceed with said trainer.
